Author Workshop on Scholarly Publishing at BHU
Author Workshop On Scholarly Publishing
held at Senate Hall, Swatntrata Bhawan , BHU on 24th September 2012 under
the Information Literacy
Program of Central Library, Banaras Hindu University in collaboration
with John Wiley.
The program was inaugurated by Prof. S. C. Lakhotia, Emeritus Professor, Banaras Hindu University with Prof. O N Srivastava, Emeritus Professor, BHU. On this occasion Prof. Gary C Schoenwolf, Prof. Kurt H. Albertine, Dr. A K Srivastava, and Mr. Ashish Sood were also present.
Welcome address was given by Dr. A K Srivastav, University Librarian, BHU. He spoke about library developments and future plan of action regarding information literacy, coupled with continuous training and learning programs.
Prof. Gary C Schoenwolf, discussed : Why Publish? How to choose your journal wisely? He emphasized in his lecture that research article should be published in the journals having high impact factor. Because theirin journal are more reliable and read by maximum readers.
Prof. O N Srivastava, Presided over the function and in his presidential remarks he raised various ethical, academic and editorial issues related to international publications. He also said that Dr. C.V. Raman got the novel prize through the research publication.
Above 200 participants from amongst the teachers and researchers from the faculty of Medical Sciences, Science, Agriculture Science and Indian Institute of Technology participated in the workshop. Lively discussion took place on ethical issues in scholarly publication.
